Please note that this vacancy is subject to a strict security vetting procedure. A Holmes Indexer is needed to support a large-scale investigation in Worthing. You’ll assist the Major Incident Room by registering documents, indexing content, and raising/resolving actions within the HOLMES system. Your role will involve not just recording information, but also using indices to identify inconsistencies and alert the Officer in Charge (OM) or Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) to key matters. Key duties: Create and manage the HOLMES database by registering and indexing documents, following established conventions. Raise and index actions in documents and statements, ensuring clarity for the Enquiry Team Officer. Maintain indices according to national rules and MIRSAP standards for accurate data retrieval. Provide administrative support to other HOLMES roles, particularly the Exhibits and Disclosure Officers. Key requirements: Knowledge of Major Incident Room Standardised Administrative Procedures (MIRSAP) or similar administrative frameworks. Familiarity with the HOLMES (Home Office Large Major Enquiry System) database or similar case management systems. Understanding of document registration, indexing, and action raising in line with established conventions and policies. Previous experience working within a major incident or investigatory setting. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage large volumes of information efficiently. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to work effectively with the Enquiry Team and other stakeholders. Ability to extract relevant data from documents and ensure clear, precise indexing for retrieval. Desirable: Training in HOLMES or other case management systems would be an advantage. Knowledge of or qualifications in criminal justice, forensic science, or a related field. Previous experience in an investigatory or law enforcement role, particularly in indexing or evidence management.
