Overview
The Machine Operator may operate various production lines, enter specifications into the machines, verify dimensions and quality, and package finished products. Machine operation may also involve the hands-on assembly of core laminations and tooling, general material handling, and area organization. Must be able to work any shift.
Responsibilities
* Read work orders.
* Set up, maintain, and operate machines.
* Measure and monitor quality.
* Material handling.
* Ensure compliance with company rules.
* Follow production processes.
* Hands-on assembly using hammers, clamps, calipers, banding tools, and other tools, as needed.
* Basic math skills.
* Able to measure dimensions accurately.
* Must possess basic computer skills.
* Must be able to read, write, and understand English.
Work Activities
* Wear proper PPE.
* May be required to use heavy equipment, including forklifts and hoists.
* Forklift training will be provided as needed.
* May have to use epoxy or tape.
* Must be able to lift 40 lbs or more.
* Other duties may be assigned.
* Will work in varying conditions.
Additional Information
* Overtime and Saturdays may be required as determined by the company to satisfy customer demands. Employees will be expected to work overtime at the supervisor’s request.
Qualifications
* Education and/or Experience: Related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common production reports and company documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or team members. Ability to effectively present information to management or work teams.
* Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions in practical situations.
* Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
* Forklift Operation: Training and certification available.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
