Job Opportunity: Specification Technologist (Hybrid)Location: Bala, North Wales (Hybrid: 3 days on-site, 2 days WFH)Salary: £38,000 per annumHours: Monday Friday, 9am 5pmStart Date: ASAPOur client, a leading food manufacturer based in Bala, North Wales, is seeking an experienced Specification Technologist to join their growing Technical team. This is a hybrid role with an excellent benefits package and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, supportive environment.Package Includes:Competitive salary of £38KHybrid working pattern (2 days WFH, 3 on site)£200 signing bonus at weeks 13 and 26Subsidised local gym membership (gym, pool & fitness classes)Free on-site parkingRole Overview:The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion and management of finished product specifications across a range of major UK retailers, including Lidl, Co-op and Aldi. They will also support the wider team with specification systems administration, artwork approval, and supplier onboarding.
Experience managing a small, hybrid or remote team is essential.Key Responsibilities Include:Writing and completing specifications for customer, retailer, and own-brand productsWorking across multiple supermarket platforms, including Lidl, Co-op, Aldi, Sainsburys, Tesco, ASDA, Morrisons, and othersManaging retailer and specification systems, including artwork approval processesSupplier approval and onboardingPack copy generation and legal labelling complianceSupporting NPD with nutritional data and gate process submissionsCross-checking documentation for accuracy and complianceParticipating in pre- and post-launch reviewsTraining and supporting junior specification writersMaintaining up-to-date knowledge of retailer codes of practice and food legislationCandidate Requirements:Proven experience as a specification writer in the food industrySolid knowledge of at least three major retailer systems ideally including Lidl, Co-op, and AldiExperience managing a small team, ideally in a hybrid or fully remote settingStrong attention to detail, organisational skills and ability to meet tight deadlinesExcellent written and verbal communicationCompetency in Microsoft Office and artwork/packaging systemsUnderstanding of BRC, food labelling legislation, and supplier approval processesThis is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Specification Technologist to take on a rewarding role within a supportive and forward-thinking business.TPBN1_UKTJ
