About The Role
Team – Pricing
Working Pattern - Hybrid – 2 days per week in either the Vitality Bournemouth or London Offices. Full-time hours.
What this role is all about:
As a Senior Actuarial Manager within the Health Pricing team, you will be responsible for identifying, defining and delivering on impactful pricing opportunities aligned to the pricing strategy of the business. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for senior internal and external stakeholder relationships and interactions, as well as for key components of our pricing process and tools.
Key Actions
1. Implement the Actuarial Control Cycle:
2. Data Management:
Use expert judgement and domain knowledge to review data and model outputs.
Complete data analysis.
Provide innovative solutions to address the problems.
3. Modelling:
Question assumptions and ensure a robust rationale.
Recommend the most appropriate solution to internal/external stakeholders.
Strategically assess and present the risks and opportunities associated with the solution.
4. Reporting:
Answer challenges and robustly justify assumptions and solutions.
Distil and communicate information to stakeholders:
Brief and present to senior management, contributing to strategic and business planning processes.
Engage beyond the scope of immediate needs to define future requirements and identify opportunities for future optimisation.
5. Build and Transfer Skills and Knowledge:
Set the standards, share expertise and act as a point of reference for the team.
Coach Actuaries and Actuarial Specialists/Managers, identifying gaps and creating learning opportunities.
6. Manage Self:
Take full responsibility for work quality and that of the team.
Maintain a can-do approach to find solutions and overcome difficulties.
‘Manage up’ by asking questions, seeking advice, and keeping stakeholders informed of progress, managing expectations and forming effective working relationships.

What do you need to thrive?
1. Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries or equivalent, or has significant skills obtained through many years of specialist knowledge.
2. Experience of working within financial services, particularly in health or life insurance.
3. Knowledge of SQL, writing and editing complex queries to extract and process data, e.g., using SQL Server Management Studio.
4. Knowledge of Python and associated data processing libraries (e.g., pandas, numpy).
5. Knowledge of more advanced visualisation/dashboarding tools such as Power BI.
