Role Overview: As a Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising classes during the absence of the regular teacher. You will ensure that students remain on task, follow instructions, and engage with the assigned work. This role is crucial in maintaining a positive learning environment in the absence of the teacher, providing continuity for student's education. Key Responsibilities: Supervise and manage student behaviour in the classroom to ensure a focused and safe learning environment. Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and activities to students, ensuring instructions are followed. Ensure students complete their assigned work to a satisfactory standard. Assist with the management of classroom resources and materials. Encourage positive behaviour and respond to any behavioural issues in line with school policies. Support students with additional needs, ensuring they can access the work and remain engaged. Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents where appropriate. Ensure that the classroom is left in an orderly state after the lesson and that any issues are reported to the appropriate staff member. Contribute to a range of school activities, as needed, such as lunchtime supervision or assisting with extra-curricular events. Essential Skills and Experience: Experience working with children or young people, ideally in a supervisory or teaching support role. Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain discipline and focus during lessons. Good organisational and communication skills. The ability to adapt quickly and be flexible in a variety of classroom settings. A confident and professional approach when working with both students and staff. Ability to follow instructions and deliver pre-prepared lessons effectively. A positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and a commitment to supporting student's learning. Desirable Attributes: A teaching assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3) or equivalent. Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role within a school setting.
