About the service
Our Strathbungo Housing Support Service offers an engaging and dynamic work environment where each day brings unique experiences. We are a dedicated team, committed to delivering exceptional person-centred care to six individuals who are primarily deafblind and have diverse, complex support needs, some of whom may not communicate verbally.
Our Team at Strathbungo strive to empower those we support to lead fulfilling, independent lives through tailored support and engaging activities. Our core principle is value-based communication, customising our support to align with the unique requirements of each individual.
Who do we support?
At our Strathbungo service, we support four vibrant females, aged between 30 and 60, and 2 outgoing males. Four individuals have their own flats and two share a flat in the Strathbungo area in Glasgow. They have various health conditions, including epilepsy, deaf-blindness, and mobility issues. Although they live independently, they all stay on the ground floor of a block of flats.
You will work on a 1:2:1 basis assisting them with day-to-day living, encouraging them to live happy meaningful lives and achieve their personal goals/ambitions both at home and in the wider community. Your role will be centred around building trusting relationships as a foundation to assist with practical tasks such as:
* Support within their own homes with personal care, housework, administering medication, meal preparation, support with finances, companionship, etc.
* Liaise with families and other professionals to provide the best quality care.
* Promote independence and individuality according to their Support Plan.
* Record daily tasks and maintain accurate records.
* Work as part of a team, effectively communicating with the staff team, families, and people supported.
The people we support are sociable and always up for fun and love to party! They enjoy local walks, shopping sprees, and movie nights at the cinema. Tuesday nights are a highlight at their favourite disco club, where they meet friends and dance the night away. They look forward to their annual holidays and love planning exciting social activities with friends and family, ensuring every day is filled with joy and laughter.
What’s the shift pattern?
Our Strathbungo Service provides round-the-clock support every day of the year. As a Support Practitioner, you can be contracted up to 37 hours per week, which means you will be required to work 23 shifts over the month; therefore, some weekend work is required.
Shifts include a mix of early shifts (07:45 – 14:45) and late shifts (14:45 – 21:45) with a requirement for some sleepover duties.
