About the Team
The Growth Strategy andCoordination Team supports HMT’s objective to ensure strong growthand competitiveness across all regions of the UK. It leads ongrowth strategy and co-ordinates HMT’s work on the pro-growthagenda. The team also has responsibility for cross-cuttingsupply-side policy including competition, markets, regulation andconsumer affairs.
About the Job
In this role, youwill:
· Conductindependent research on pro-growth policies (includingproductivity/supply-sidepolicy).
· Providecomplex, novel and innovative solutions which will shape medium tolong term impacts to yourwork.
· Adviseministers and senior officials on growthstrategy.
· RepresentHMT in engagement with business, academia and colleagues acrossHMT, Whitehall, and outsidegovernment.
· Bea lead architect to shape, organise, and collate EGU’s work ongrowth priorities andpolicies.
· Playa proactive and lead role in the delivery of fiscal events andother significant growthmoments.
· Asa subject matter expert lead and embed a collaborative approachwith colleagues (HMT and X-Gov) to help bolster their growthanalysis/thinking.
· Workclosely with EGU SCS to co-ordinate and sequence the Group’s workacross the growthprogramme.
Thisis a fast paced, stretching role at the heart of shaping thegovernment’s growth strategy. Growth is a top politicalpriority and to reflect this HMT has bolstered its central growthstrategy and coordination function, which is now being establishedas an independent permanent team. The postholder will play acentral role in organising and shaping HMT’s work on the pro-growthagenda. The role involves engaging widely across HMT, othergovernment departments, academia, and business to develop growthpolicies and provide well-informed advice to ministers.

This role sits under the‘Growth Strategy, Coordination and Delivery’ side of the team.The successful candidate will be delivering and coordinatingpro-growth work, engaging colleagues across HMT and in othergovernment departments for fiscal and other significant growthevents.
Thisrole would suit candidates who are motivated by seeking outinnovative ideas to drive growth in the UK and are interested inleading, organising, shaping, and drawing together a range of workin the Group and more widely. There will be many opportunities towork closely with ministers and senior officials, both within HMTand across government.
