Tax Collection Officers
Location: Exeter
Date: 28/04/2025 to 30/06/2025
Shift Pattern/ Hours : Monday to Friday 09:00 AM TO 16:00 PM
Salary: £13.69 per hour
What you will be responsible for:
Monitor accounts in arrears and initiate recovery actions as needed.
Assess overall debt and agree on sustainable repayment plans.
Support customers in financial hardship by offering advice, conducting income/expenditure analysis, and identifying appropriate solutions.
Prevent debt escalation through early-stage intervention.
Refer complex or multi-debt cases to appropriate colleagues.
Deliver customer support via phone, email, letter, and face-to-face interactions.
Liaise with third-party representatives and update records accurately.
Recommend cases for write-off when appropriate.
Handle associated administrative tasks and maintain up-to-date records.
Provide input on service improvements and support team performance.
Offer guidance and support to colleagues as required.
Perform any other duties relevant to the roleRequirements:
IRRV Level 2 Diploma in Local Taxation, Benefits and Advice (QCF) or substantial proven equivalent experience
Adequate current experience of working within a high pressure income recovery and customer focussed environment
Good current knowledge of Academy Revs & Bens, Capita Housing, Ash, Paris, Access, RKYV Dip and Workflow systems, and associated modules
A working knowledge of financial customer solutions available including payment arrangement, discretionary funding and write off with the ability to explore sustainable ways to maintain and maximise the councils income in a customer focussed way
