About the role
The Workshop Manager will oversee engineering operations at the depot, including fleet and environmental management, ensuring compliance with regulations. They will engage with frontline staff, fostering effective communication and recognition. Operating within the Divisional Engineering Steering Group's framework, they will ensure depot adherence to standard policies and procedures.
Role Specifics
1. Supervise the maintenance and servicing of the fleet, ensuring vehicles comply with all statutory regulations.
2. Induct and develop an engaged, talented, and high-performing engineering team.
3. Efficiently allocate planned and unplanned work across the engineering team, including covering on the day absence.
4. Ensure the availability of vehicles in line with operational requirements.
5. Support the Stores Manager to ensure optimum management of stock and accurate and timely processing of warranty claims.
6. Maintain depot plant and equipment.
7. Maintain accurate records for all aspects of engineering standards and performance, including fleet and environmental management.
8. Ensure a comprehensive hand-over and coordination across shifts.
9. Conduct disciplinary, grievance, or absence management reviews in accordance with company policy.
10. Work alongside depot operational and engineering team members, fostering excellent working relationships to effectively manage service performance, vehicle allocation, breakdowns, changeovers, and service punctuality and reliability.
11. Comply with requisition to pay procedures and delegated authorities.
12. Ensure effective working relationships with recognized trade union representatives and officials.

Salary: £48,000
About you
* Hold a Level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Level 1 & 2).
* Have workshop supervisor or management experience in mechanics, HGV, PSV, van, coach, or bus capacity.
* Proficient in using presentation software to explain complex information to non-technical management personnel and stakeholders.
* Willing to undertake training and development activities as requested by the line manager.
* Experience using computer-aided engineering planning platforms.
* Experience with SAP software.
