Join Southwark Council’s Waste & Cleaning team as a Gardener, and help maintain the parks, estates, highways, and green spaces that make our borough a fantastic place to live and visit.
We’re looking for dedicated and enthusiastic gardeners to carry out a full range of horticultural duties, keeping Southwark’s public spaces vibrant, tidy, and well-maintained all year round.
What You’ll Be Doing
? Carrying out grass cutting, hedge trimming, planting, and general maintenance of gardens, flower beds, and green spaces.? Pruning, weeding, and caring for shrubs, roses, herbaceous plants, and annual displays.? Operating and maintaining gardening equipment, including mowers and powered tools.? Assisting with the design and planting of seasonal displays in parks and communal areas.? Ensuring all work is carried out safely, following Health & Safety procedures and best practices.
What We’re Looking For
We need people who are:�? Passionate about gardening and the environment, with experience in grounds maintenance, cleaning, waste management, or a similar role.?? Hardworking and self-motivated, able to work alone or as part of a team.�? Organised and reliable, with the ability to work to deadlines and schedules.?? Skilled in using gardening tools and machinery, including mowers and hedge trimmers.?? Knowledgeable about Health & Safety regulations related to gardening and outdoor work.
Additional salary details
- We are delighted to offer this role on a permanent contract basis.
- Working schedule is 36 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, between 6am and 6pm. (Although we expect most rotas to fall Monday to Friday).
