Introduction
We are looking for an excellent team player to join us as Retail Manager at the RSPB Carsington Water Shop. Carsington water is owned and managed by Severn Trent Water, and the RSPB retail outlet perfectly compliments visitors to the site. With a wide range of optics for birdwatchers or a large gift range for local visiting school groups, the shop stocks a range with something for everyone.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and highly self-motivated with a strong retail and customer service background to manage the shop and the retail team to maximise the potential of the shop and drive income to support the charitable work of the RSPB.
What's the role about?
The focus of the role is to achieve key targets, lead staff and volunteers in delivering great customer service, and ensure customers have the best experience possible. You will help complete trading reports, conduct stock takes, maintain displays, process deliveries, operate tills and carry out banking responsibilities, and respond to visitor enquiries in a friendly professional manner.
Essential skills, knowledge and experience:
Relevant industry recognised qualification, or relevant experience
Financial acumen with an understanding of financial data and management of budgets
A sound working knowledge of MS applications, including Excel and Word
Knowledge of stock management, merchandising principles and a sound understanding of systems and procedures necessary to run a commercial retail operation
Results focussed with the ability to lead effective, high performing teams
Strong resource planning with effective allocation of teams and product
The ability to plan and prioritise tasks
Effective in responding to customer and colleagues needs and feedback, delivering an exemplar customer service experience
Solutions focussed with the ability to effectively resolve problem
Proven track record of managing a successful retail store
Experience of managing and delivering targets and KPIs for a retail business
Desirable skills, knowledge and experience:
Experience of working within a charity
