Job Title: Specialist Tutor
Location: Chesterfield and Surrounding Area's
Pay: £25 per hour
Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and dedicated Specialist Tutor to work with children at risk of, or who have been, permanently excluded from school.
In this role, you will support vulnerable pupils with challenging and often complex needs. As a key member of the Day 6 Inclusion Pathways Team, your responsibilities will include conducting home visits, delivering 1:1 academic sessions, and assisting with the smooth transition of pupils into new educational settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct home visits and on-boarding assessments for pupils, ensuring their needs are fully understood before they are allocated a timetable.
Deliver 1:1 academic support in the home or off-site locations, covering subjects such as English, Maths, and Personal Social Development (PSD).
Support pupils with reintegration into mainstream education, including transport to and from alternative provisions or induction visits.
Provide pastoral support and conduct safe and well visits for pupils who have been absent from school.
Manage a flexible caseload, adjusting your schedule as new pupils are enrolled or as their needs change.
Travel across the north of Derbyshire, working independently and maintaining an organised schedule.
Occasionally attend meetings, training, and CPD events at other academy sites.
Skills & Qualifications Required:
Experience working with children who have complex needs and challenging behaviour.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and support pupils with emotional and social needs.
Highly organised, with the ability to manage a changing caseload.
Flexibility and the ability to work autonomously in a variety of settings.
Full access to a vehicle with business insurance for travel between locations, including transporting pupils when necessary.
