Robert Half are delighted to be partnering exclusively with Global Water Intelligence (GWI), a leading publisher and events organiser serving the international water industry, to recruit for an Agenda Lead based in Oxford, offering up to £35,000 and excellent benefits (including hybrid working).
Our Company
Global Water Intelligence (GWI) is the leading specialist publisher and events organiser serving the international water sector. We create value by connecting people and ideas to solve the world's water challenges. It is delivered by a brilliant and committed team of editors, communicators, project managers, and sales people based in our central Oxford headquarters.
Our revenues come from two main sources: selling subscriptions to our business intelligence platform and organising the Global Water Summit. Both products are highly respected by our customers and unchallenged market leaders in our sector.
The Context
The greatest impact of climate change is on the water cycle, and as temperatures rise beyond the 1.5°C threshold, water security is becoming the single biggest challenge we face. But water security is not just about the droughts and floods brought on by climate change. It is also about ensuring that the infrastructure is there for everyone to have access to safe drinking water and improved sanitation, that that the systems are in place to protect the environment and public health from water borne pollutants, and more generally that water attracts the investment it needs as urbanisation and population growth put pressure on resources.
Our white paper Investing in a Water Secure Future, published to promote the 2024 Global Water Summit (see ) is an example of our agenda setting work. It helped make that event our biggest and most successful yet. We are looking to appoint an Agenda Lead to take this success to the next level.
The Role
The Agenda Lead is responsible for developing the ideas and delivering the speakers that ensure the growing success of the Global Water Summit. It involves the following activities:
1. Working with the GWI content team and its network of contacts to identify the most compelling themes for discussion at the Global Water Summit.
2. Creating white papers and other content pieces to introduce and promote these themes with the support of other members of the team.
3. Identifying the most important people to have in the room when these issues are discussed, and securing them to speak at the summit.
4. Working with our events team to ensure that everything runs smoothly on the day.
5. Developing strategies to push the agenda forwards after the summit.
About you
We're looking for a recent graduate or someone who has worked for a year or two after university. You should also have the following qualities:
6. Intellectually curious: We don't expect you to know about water now, but with your strong academic background (ideally with a degree from a Russell Group university or equivalent), we do expect you to get totally engaged with the subject
7. Socially fluent: You'll be dealing with an array of different people, one of the most exciting elements of our industry, so strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills are essential.
8. A communicator: You will need to be able to inspire people in the way that you talk, write, and use visuals.
9. Organised: You'll be working on numerous responsibilities in tandem and managing the progress of work, which requires good time management skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work to a deadline.
10. Commercially minded: We are in business to have an impact on the world, but we can only deliver that impact if we are a successful business.
11. Flexible: The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, including taking initiative and showing ownership of tasks. Also, the flexibility to travel internationally as and when required.
