Are you looking for a rewarding position working alongside a supportive team?
We are looking for qualified (or about to qualify) psychologists to join our well-established Children’s Eating Disorders Service. We hope to recruit full-time applicants, although part-time will be considered. We support applicants completing their doctoral training and provide excellent training and support in working with eating disorders.
This is a development role from band 7 to band 8a. As a Psychologist, you will provide specialist psychological assessments, care planning, and evidence-based psychological interventions. You will work one-on-one with patients and deliver group treatments.
This role will involve working as part of a multidisciplinary team and with professionals across agencies.
The working pattern is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm. You will primarily be based at either Nicholsons House in Maidenhead or at our NHS site on the University of Reading campus. Both sites offer free (or paid but reclaimable) parking to staff, with flexibility for some home working.
Main duties of the job
1. Assessing children and their families referred to Berkshire Eating Disorders Service.
2. Creating care plans for patients referred to the service.
3. Delivering a range of specialist psychological interventions for individuals and groups.
4. Undertaking and reviewing risk assessments.
5. Providing specialist advice to and liaising with other professionals.
6. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate clinical records.

Person specification
Education/Qualifications/Training
* Postgraduate doctoral qualification in clinical or counselling psychology (or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996 or completed their training overseas) which provides eligibility for Chartered Membership of British Psychological Society (BPS).
* Registered and accredited with Health Care Professional Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
* Recognised master's level qualification in psychodynamic psychotherapy or equivalent and registered with UKCP as a psychotherapist or with the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC).
* Postgraduate qualification in relevant mental health or social care related discipline or equivalent.
* Registered and accredited as a Family and Systemic Psychotherapist with the professional body UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
* Additional training/ accreditations (or working towards these) to reflect post qualification interest/specialism.
Continuous Professional Development
* Evidence of training and/or interest and knowledge in psychological models and therapeutic approaches relevant to the post.
* Commitment to continuing professional development as recommended by the relevant accrediting body.
Experience
* Experience of working in evidence-based ways with services users (and their carers/families) presenting with the full range of clinical severity.
* Experience of dealing with highly distressing or emotional circumstances.
* Experience of working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and multi-agency environment.
* Experience of service development and carrying out clinical audit.
* Experience of working with diversity, multiculturalism, and equality of access to service.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Demonstrable knowledge, skills, and abilities in psychological/neuropsychological or psychotherapeutic assessment, formulation, and intervention.
* Knowledge and understanding of service evaluation, audit, and research.
* Well-developed communication skills to convey complex information.
* Interpersonal skills to support, influence, and engage with clinicians and service users.
* Ability to advocate for the service and foster good professional relationships.
* Advanced IT skills and the ability to navigate various systems and software packages.
Additional Requirements
* Able to work flexibly around working patterns and travel independently between locations in Berkshire.
