The role...
The role of Senior Web Developer is important to us.
As part of our talented internal digital team, you'll use your proven experience with Next.js and React to help us build multiple enterprise websites and associated web portals.
Working in an agile environment, your work will include implementing new feature requests and website improvements from our UX, marketing, and divisional teams alongside supporting the maintenance of our group websites.
We've got big plans and the team can offer you an exciting roadmap of projects to be involved in.
Ongoing development is very important to us, so you'll get access to online training subscriptions dedicated to the tech stack we use, alongside the mentorship and guidance provided by some really experienced technologists in the business.
The role is based from our head office in Crewe, Cheshire, complete with gym facilities, café, and breakout areas.
Your responsibilities will include...
* Developing and implementing web applications using Next.js and related front-end technologies, such as React, HTML, CSS, Tailwind CSS, and Typescript.
* Writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured code, adhering to best practices and industry standards for Next.js development.
* Optimizing web applications for maximum performance, compatibility, and responsiveness across various platforms and devices.
* Staying up to date with the latest advancements in Next.js, React, and front-end web development technologies, and identifying opportunities to enhance existing applications or create new ones.
* Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including UI/UX and product managers, to gather and refine requirements, ensuring alignment with overall business goals and needs.
* Developing and maintaining technical documentation, including design documents, user guides, and API specifications, to effectively communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Knowledge of security best practices with regards to developing and maintaining WordPress themes and plugins.
What do we expect of you?
* Proven web development experience using Next.js and React, with a strong understanding of their features and best practices.
* Strong experience of frontend web technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as experience with modern JavaScript frameworks and libraries.
* Knowledge of web development best practices, including responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimisation.
* Good understanding of version control systems, such as Git.
* Proven knowledge of agile software development methodologies.
* A proactive mindset, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
