Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Partners with Rig Managers (RM) in safety processes of assigned rigs including: safety training, safety inspections, accident investigations, implementation and maintenance of safety, program, rig inspections, and various reporting requirements.
· Responsible for completion of personal development program, (designed in conjunction with Ops Manager) to include: completion of formal personal development plan of Valaris or, equivalent leadership development program.
· Completes special projects with RM assigned by the Manager – Operations.
· Assists Rig Manager in review of and monitoring rig operating costs.
· Aids in the reduction of rig personnel attrition.
· Participates in review and assessment of daily rig operations through verbal and written reports provided to each RM by their respective Offshore Installation Managers (OIMs).
· Participates in periodic on-site inspections and audits.
· Confers with RMs on potential operational problem areas.
· Assists in determining general operations effectiveness and partnering with RMs in initiating improvements.
· Assists in coordinating material orders and rig inventory controls.
· Works with the management personnel in developing rig-based employee development programs through: certification programs, recommended teambuilding programs, development and implementation of, various employee developmental jobs, and assignments and projects.
· Participates with RMs in monitoring and auditing monthly equipment reports.
· With Business Development, provides strong customer support by making customer visits and following up on customer contacts.
· Shares coaching and counseling responsibilities with Rig Managers on employee issues.
· Participates in technical operations troubleshooting discussions with Rig and Operations managers.
· Provides on-site support and assistance for rig moves, as directed by Operations Manager.
· Assists Rig and Operations managers in capital and operating budget preparation.
· Stays informed on governmental, union, labor, safety, and environmental rules and regulations that effect rig operations.
· Supports Rig Managers’ efforts in adherence of such.
· Serves as Acting Rig Manager during vacations and other absences.
· Makes operational decisions aligned with Valaris vision.
· Demonstrates Rig Manager Competencies in order to support sustaining or enhancing the assigned asset base in order to meet Valaris standards and optimize its economic return.
· Recommends and coordinates the activities necessary to implement improvements, additions and maintenance functions and systems of assigned assets.
· Coordinates activities necessary to ensure assigned fixed assets remain in compliance with regulatory requirements.
· Coordinates activities necessary to ensure assigned fixed assets remain functionally consistent with Valaris and industry standards.
· Coordinates the activities necessary to integrate Valaris HSE standards into assigned fixed asset decisions.
· Coordinates, monitors, supports and reports to Operations Manager on assigned projects to achieve operational functionality as defined in the scope of work, timing and budget commitments and review project results.
· Coordinates activities necessary to maintain the physical integrity of the assets, including making recommendations on enhancements to prolong useful life and improve marketability.
· Recommends asset enhancements which lead to increased efficiency, marketability, and profitability early in the planning phase.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university preferred.
· Minimum of years in an operations management function in a business of similar size and complexity.
Skills & Experience
· Knowledge of and experience with internal controls as they relate to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO Standards).
· Ability to gather and analyze/synthesize data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy as an integral part of the collective analysis/synthesis process.
· Demonstrated effective leadership and influencing skills and practices.
· Knowledge of financial accounting, purchasing and management systems.
· Physically capable of being transported to an offshore rig by boat or helicopter.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros; import and export information).
· Working knowledge of document control systems and databases.
