Special Education Teaching Assistant - Sensory
Location: Newport
Hours: 8:30 am - 3:30 pm
Pay: Minimum of £83.85 per day
Start Date: January 6th for an induction day
Duration: Temporary Contract until July 18th, 2025 (performance dependent)
Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join one of our client schools as a Special Education Teaching Assistant. Working closely with young individuals aged 3-19 who have Additional Learning Needs (ALN), you will play a vital role in supporting their educational journey towards achieving primary-level competencies.
- Assist the lead teacher in delivering structured lessons to a class of 5-8 students.
- Support students in engaging with sensory play and other activities tailored to their individual needs.
- Facilitate sensory experiences, such as playing with sand and water, to meet students' sensory requirements.
- Collaborate with the teaching team to ensure a supportive and enriching learning environment.
- Follow a set timetable to help students achieve their goals for the term.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience working with children, ideally in a nursery or outdoor education setting.
- A passion for engaging with children and supporting their sensory needs.
- A positive and proactive approach to working with children with additional learning needs.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
- A local, sector-specific branch that understands your needs as a candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
