Salary: £37,035 to £41,511 per annum

Contract: Fixed Term until end of March 2026 (subject to funding/extension)
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Location: Northallerton/Hybrid working (including York)
North Yorkshire has the ambition to seek to become operational net zero by 2030, and as a region York & North Yorkshire aims to be net zero by 2034, and carbon negative by 2040.
An exciting opportunity to join North Yorkshire Council as the Strategic Energy Partnership Delivery Officer. You will be working on a transformative programme to develop a strategic energy partnership model for York and North Yorkshire. The postholder will play a critical role in the delivery of this programme and in support of our ambition, working across the strategic pillars of our net zero approach – decarbonising our energy system, moving towards a circular economy and enhancing our natural capital.
We are looking for an individual who is passionate and enthusiastic about Climate Change, Net Zero, Renewable Energy, who can work in a Delivery Team alongside colleagues from other local authorities. As the Strategic Energy Partnership Delivery Officer, you will support the Delivery Manager in the development and delivery of the DESNZ funded, Local Net Zero Accelerator Programme.
You will be expected to achieve the following key objectives:
1. Support in the delivery of North Yorkshire Council role in the Bristol City Leap Replicator programme.
2. Provide in-depth support to the Delivery Manager and wider project teams, to develop the project, drafting business cases, reports and attending boards and project group meetings.
3. Support collaboration and knowledge-sharing activities across a range of partners.
This is a fixed term role for 18 months (subject to funding and programme extensions).
What you will bring…
You will hold a degree level or equivalent experience in a relevant subject such as climate change, net zero, renewable energy, or environmental science. You will be organised and have experience of supporting the delivery of projects.
You will be working in close partnership with Local Authorities and other partners, so experience working collaboratively is essential as are excellent communication skills.
