8c Head of Inpatient Transformation
Fixed Term: 17 months (finishes 31/03/26)
We are seeking a lead for the national Inpatient Quality Transformation programme in Avon and Wiltshire Partnership NHS Trust. This will include overseeing the implementation and embedding of a new therapeutic offer on our acute inpatient wards, designing and leading the transformation of rehabilitation pathways across both BNSSG (Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire) and BSW (Bath & North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire) and overseeing the implementation of reasonable adjustments across our inpatient estate for people with a learning disability, autism or neurodiversity.

Main duties of the job
You will have exceptional partnership, negotiating, persuading and interpersonal skills to work across complex care systems. The role will interact with senior figures from a range of organisations with competing priorities to agree jointly coordinated transformation plans and associated workstreams.
The role will work with leads across BNSSG and BSW.

Job responsibilities
StrategyWork with the Director of Transformation to develop transformation plans and supporting delivery roadmaps
Coordinate the development and delivery of the Inpatient Transformation Plan
Represent the Trust at key ICS meetings and feeding back to the Director of Transformation and Executive on decisions required
Lead and co-ordinate the newly formed Inpatient transformation programme, includingmanagement of supporting project work streams, reporting and performance measurement of identified priority programmes
Report transformation progress frequently to Trust Executive and Board, including progress against strategic delivery road maps and overarching transformation deliverables
Ensure trust Transformation plans align to ICS transformation plans, reducing duplication and repetition
Chair associated transformation meetings within the Trust and across systems, collaborating with transformation peers across both ICS footprints
Develop a transformation network across Trust divisions, linking to change management initiatives and the production of identified change agents
Work with staff and service users to ensure Transformation plans are co-developed and produced together in partnership
Co-ordinate clinical leaders and programme leads aligned to the Inpatient TransformationProgramme
Horizon scan to identify new funding streams to support Inpatient transformation
Seek opportunities to access support from national and local organisations, working with the Trust Strategy team on potential proposals and bids to access any available monies / support
Identify best practice from national ICSs on innovative and transformationalinpatient change programmes, for example, other Inpatient Transformation Plans best practice
Share transformation best practice both internally and externally and seek to implement new ideas and innovative practice including use of new technologies, tools and techniques
Ensure that appropriate transformation resources are allocated (agreed with Finance) within the trust to support the Trusts contribution towards BNSSG and BSW ICSs
In collaboration with the Director of Transformation represent the Trust at ICS meetings and forums
Attend key ICS meetings as required and communicate back key messages to the Executive, LDUs, corporate and local teams
Coordinate representation on all relevant ICS transformation work streams and coordinatefeedback to facilitate appropriate organisational response
Maintain a register of relevant ICS meetings, attendance at meetings and deputisingarrangements present AWPs ICS ambitions and local plans at internal and external meetings
Organise internal meetings and work streams to deliver internal ICS work plans
Clearly communicate AWPs role and responsibility for delivering inpatient transformationplans to LDUs, corporate and local teams
Ensure core communication messages are circulated to internal staff to keep them informed of progress with the Inpatient Transformation Plan
Lead the development of Inpatient Transformation plans that are in line with the ICS anddeliverable through PMO, working closely in partnership with the Head of PMO
Manage a coordinated approach to information sharing, joint plans and work programmesrelated to the Inpatient Transformation plans that are aligned to PMO priorities and objectives to avoid duplication
Lead and deliver trust wide workshops and events on Inpatient Transformation Plan workstreams, engaging with executive, LDUs, corporate and local teams,
Work in partnership with BI and QI transformation teams to ensure that Quality and Data are inclusive of transformation priorities developed
Ensure that Inpatient Transformation governance structures and processes within the Trustare fit for purpose and support the delivery of Inpatient Transformation Plan objectives

Educational & qualification
Essential
1. Masters Qualification or post graduate qualification in a suitable subject in business management Masters in Business Management; MBA, or equivalent career experience
2. Evidence of on-going, relevant professional development
Desirable
3. Diploma level Management/Leadership qualification, ILM 7 or equivalent experience
4. Project/programme Management qualification, Prince II/MSP
5. Transformation related further development
Experience and Knowledge
Essential
6. Understanding of Transformation, strategic management / project management / programme management within a large organisation
7. Experience of working in a senior management role, in the NHS or other complex organisation
8. Experience of working in partnership with multi-agencies to deliver key objectives and joint strategies / plans
9. Experience of negotiating and persuading senior leaders and colleagues to work collaboratively to agree joint priorities and plans, including investments
10. Experience of developing strategic transformation and business plans to deliver key objectives, that are measurable and risk assessed
11. Experience of using complex modelling tools financial / people / operational processes to produce plans and reports

12. Operational managerial experience in a mental health setting
13. Experience of transformation in a mental health inpatient setting
