Relief Facility Supervisor (Caretaker)
Location: Newcastle Upon Tyne
Salary: £28,163 - £30,060 per annum
Facility Services and Civic Management work across the city and Gateshead providing building cleaning, caretaking, school meals and welfare catering services.
An opportunity exists for a suitable individual to work within the Facility Services Division of Operations and Regulatory Services Directorate as a Relief Facility Supervisor.
The Role
You must be able to travel citywide (between 06.00am and 19.00pm) and undertake a split shift requirement of the role.
You will be responsible for:
1. The security of the premises, setting alarms, and general health and safety issues relating to the building.
2. A range of porterage duties.
3. Supervision of cleaning staff and designated cleaning area.
You will be expected to manage varying workloads and the cleaning of a defined area while managing your own time. Flexibility is required around key events in the school calendar (e.g. remedial works, parents' evenings, governing body meetings, Christmas and summer fairs).
Skills and Qualifications
To succeed in this role, it is essential that you have:
1. Good communication skills.
2. The ability to work with limited supervision.
3. Experience in caretaking in a school or similar environment (advantageous).
4. The capability of regular stooping, bending, lifting, and carrying of equipment, materials, or furniture.
5. Self-motivation and ability to work to fixed deadlines.
6. A flexible approach to work, hours, and locations.
7. Customer-focused attitude.
8. The ability to deliver to required standards.
9. Suitability to work with children and young people.
10. The capability to follow written and spoken instructions and communicate in English.
