Purpose of the job
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, forward thinking and enthusiastic individual to join the Melton Borough Council Housing Assets Team as the Senior Planned Maintenance Surveyor.
This role reports directly to the Housing Asset Manager and will be part of our dynamic Housing Assets Team. The role leads the Planned Maintenance Team to deliver a tenant focussed planned maintenance service. This includes our capital programme and cyclical maintenance programme. This involves contract management of the planned maintenance contractors, monitoring performance, understanding performance data and driving improvements.
In this role and across our housing services, no two days are the same! The team has implemented major changes over the last few years, including software updates, process reviews and contract amendments. We need someone to continue that work to improve the service that we offer to our tenants. As a landlord, we take our commitments to our residents seriously and we are focussed on continuing to strengthen and improve what we do, and how we do it.
About You
The successful candidate will be driven and motivated with a focus on improving services. You will be a strong and empowering leader but confident to work independently and have a flexible attitude to working under pressure and in response to a changing regulatory environment. We are looking for an individual with a positive outlook and a desire to deliver and improve a quality service to the community we serve.
You will have experience of working in a planned maintenance team, ideally at a senior level. This will include a good knowledge of health and safety legislation that relates to the housing sector. You will be able to demonstrate that you have experience of managing construction contracts with an individual value in excess of £1million.
A thorough working knowledge of Housing Management Systems and the Microsoft Office Suite of applications is key. You will have an excellent working knowledge of Excel and databases and be able to produce detailed reports as well as be able to maintain and update electronic information systems in accordance with data protection regulations.
