Description We’re looking for an H&S Process Safety specialist. the ideal Candidate will support in control of safety systems at AESC UK, to ensure they always run safely and efficiently, and to maintain and control an effective system. Key Responsibilities Reporting to the EHS Senior Manager, as the EHS Process Safety Specialist you will be required to work closely with production and other operational disciplines to ensure the battery plant is set up to operate safely and within the requirements of the expectations of an upper tier COMAH site. Supporting the design, installation, and commissioning new production machinery, including monitoring development and troubleshooting. Ensuring that potential safety issues related to the site operator, the environment, the process, and the product are considered and partake in and lead hazard studies – HAZOPS, SIL / LOPA, HAZIDS as required. Coordinate preparation of major hazard risk assessment. Define the Chemical and Operational (Fire and Explosion Prevention). Bases of Safety and Processes Conduct Process Hazard Assessments (PHA) of new and existing processes. Carry out pressure relief and general process engineering calculations. Support and participate as a member of the EHS team in general EHS activities and contribute to the development of the sites COMAH report submission and Reg10’s etc. Experience & Qualifications Required: Chemical Engineering degree or in similar technical field, background, or qualification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Able to multitask and be self-driven. Positive outlook and clear focus. Technically proficient in all areas of Process Safety and Loss of Prevention e.g., HAZOP, PHA etc. Experience of relevant H&S and Environmental Legislation. Demonstrate knowledge of COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX and other Health & Safety legislations. Demonstrate knowledge of safety. Minimum of 5 Years relevant chemical experience at upper tier COMAH establishments. Experienced & effective problem solver, leading problem-solving teams both cross functional and within Production, Engineering and Technical Functions providing analytical solutions & effective actions.
