Op-tec Systems is an engineering consultancy specialised in industrial automation. We help UK companies in the process and manufacturing industries increase their efficiency and competitiveness through better use of technology. We're looking for a Field Engineer who shares our passions for innovation, open technology, and helping industry become data-driven.
Role
This full-time role will involve travelling to client sites all around the UK, but mostly within 100 miles of Stockport. You will typically be Op-tec's sole representative on a client site. So you must be comfortable following directions and procedures, and taking responsibility for the delivery of work scopes.
To succeed in this role you'll need to understand client requirements or issues, communicate these internally, then take responsibility for ensuring they are addressed efficiently and in line with quality, safety and security standards.
Our engineers contribute directly to business growth so you must take personal responsibility for results and demonstrate commercial awareness as well as technical expertise.
You will have an IT or electromechanical background and subsequent experience in both disciplines. There is no specific need for control/automation expertise, but work experience in an industrial/process environment is required.
Main Duties
1. Constant communication with internal and external stakeholders
2. Proactive delivery of client service and support
3. Critically review procedures, documentation, method statements, etc.
4. Undertake site audits, assess client systems and procedures against best practice
5. Carry out in-house and client-witnessed tests
6. Support existing installations with maintenance services, disaster recovery and troubleshooting
7. Contribute to company’s marketing and sales activities
8. Identify new business opportunities with potential and existing customers
Responsibilities
1. Work in accordance with the company’s Code of Practice
2. Accountable for ensuring the quality of own and others work
3. Liaise with client to ensure work is to their satisfaction
4. Keep up to date on technological and regulatory developments within the industry
5. Work in partnership with colleagues to achieve company goals and objectives
Salary Range
The role is based in our Stockport office, with travel within the UK (including overnight stays) required. Home/flexible working available.
While working hours are flexible, negotiable salaries are based on 37.5 hours/week.
You can expect your own desk in our office, to be provided with a laptop, any PPE required to perform your duties and a mobile phone.
In addition to paid holiday on all statutory and other public holidays, the role is entitled to 22 days’ holiday each year.
Company pays 8% of gross salary into a defined-contribution pension scheme, regardless of how much employees choose to contribute.
This role is eligible for a company car. However as this is a new role no existing fleet vehicle is available. A new vehicle will be ordered following successful completion of a probation period.
