Assistant Accountant - Growing Technology Business - Based between Cheltenham & Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire

Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a modern and growing technology business based between Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Gloucestershire to recruit a dynamic and hands-on Assistant Accountant. A growth role for the organisation supporting the Management Accountant and Financial Controller in a varied and hands-on accounting position. This permanent position will offer remote/office hybrid working along with a study package if applicable. Open to candidates studying accounting qualifications or qualified by experience.
Your new role
Key duties will involve:
1. Supporting with management accounts preparation
2. Accruals and prepayments
3. Journals and maintaining fixed asset register
4. Assisting with financial year-end
5. Accounts payable processes, including processing invoices and supplier statement reconciliations
6. Ensuring VAT is correctly accounted for and dealing with accounts payable queries
7. Expense processing and monitoring claims
8. Bank reconciliations
9. Accounts receivable process, including raising/processing sales invoices and reconciliations
You will support in ad-hoc duties and projects as the business grows further with the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities in the future as you develop in the team.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this varied Assistant Accountant role, you will need:
1. Experience within a similar position
2. Strong attention to detail
3. Key MS Excel skills
4. Training in a range of financial systems
5. Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines
6. Good communication skills to build relationships at all levels
7. Problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn
8. Experience within the technology sector and familiarity with Sage or Xero (advantageous but not essential)

This permanent Assistant Accountant role offers a salary up to £35,000 per annum, dependent on experience, with remote/office working of 3 days on-site and 2 days remote.
