DUTIES :
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager-Fleet, this position will be responsible for:
1. Developing, implementing and performing preventative maintenance programs for ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) and Farebox equipment.
2. Providing technical support, including problem identification, investigation and resolution.
3. Conducting troubleshooting analysis and resolution for standard and complex issues.
4. Working to meet inflexible deadlines for implementing new systems or enhancing existing systems with urgent response times.
5. Participating in the upgrade, integration, testing, documentation, implementation, maintenance and support of transit systems.
6. Receiving and responding to service requests to discuss and resolve issues and/or provide operational information.
7. Working with the ITS Coordinator to receive training, develop training materials and strategies, and address current issues, work assignments and priorities.
8. Assisting the ITS Coordinator with all ITS and Farebox related duties.
9. Developing and maintaining an inventory of replacement parts for ITS and Farebox equipment, including research and recommendation for components.
10. Maintaining a log for equipment repairs.
11. Monitoring hardware components and coordinating the replacement of malfunctioning equipment or parts with contractors as required.
12. Setting up, updating and supporting hardware and firmware on in-vehicle systems designated for use within the Transit fleet.
13. Conducting CAD/AVL commissioning on new vehicles upon delivery.
14. Coordinating with Transit staff, in-vehicle system vendors, and the Information Technology department for support and updates.
15. Being responsible for lifting, carrying and installing ITS and Farebox related equipment.
16. Performing Corporate Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Canada Labour Code Part II.
17. Performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Must have:
1. A post-secondary school community College diploma in Information Technology or Engineering, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency.
2. A minimum of three years’ experience in an Information Technology position supporting hardware, peripherals, applications, telecommunications and networking in a business environment.
3. A current valid and lawful Class G driver’s licence in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act.
Additional requirements:
1. Strong problem solving skills.
2. Ability to effectively prioritize competing and changing issues in a transit environment.
3. Computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications.
4. Ability to analyze and resolve technical problems.
5. Capability to manage multiple technical initiatives independently and as part of a team.
6. Exceptional customer service skills.
7. Previous experience in a helpdesk or customer service environment will be considered an asset.
8. Knowledge of corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, accountability, flexibility, and adaptability will be considered an asset.
9. Demonstrated hands-on experience in telecommunications and networking for vehicle tracking applications.
10. Legal entitlement to work in Canada.
