Salary: £65k - £75k depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Location: London Broadcasting House/Birmingham The Mailbox. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working of 2-3 days a week with home working.

Job Purpose
This role is part of the Risk and Compliance team within the Quality, Risk & Assurance department. The Compliance Manager will support the Head of Risk Management to help manage compliance risks across the BBC Group. The role requires ownership of all deliverables and the quality and timeliness of compliance reports for the various governance committees.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Accountable for the performance and delivery of all compliance risk outputs and deliverables including compliance reports.
2. Identifying potential areas of compliance vulnerability; conducting routine and risk based second line compliance monitoring and assurance activity; assisting in and overseeing the implementation of remediation plans as necessary.
3. Drafting concise, accurate Executive-level summaries and detailed reports of assurance activities, that provide leadership with a clear and coherent understanding of compliance issues, findings, and outcomes.
4. Write reports suitable for Board-level executives, using key leading and lagging metrics from across the organisation to provide insight and analysis of compliance performance.
5. Partnering with BBC employees (including Senior Leaders) to maintain and further develop throughout the organisation a strong culture of compliance and ethics including personal accountability, at all levels in the organisation.
6. Staying up to date with relevant laws and regulations, horizon scanning, and maintaining awareness of compliance developments within or outside of the organisation; including industry relevant regulation, global approaches, and emerging trends.
7. Maintain knowledge of BBC strategy, organisational development, and compliance risks to help inform QRA activities.
8. Have strong external insights to bring into the BBC.
9. Pro-actively work with the business divisions to identify areas for focus and contributes to the overall improvement in compliance risk management across the BBC.
10. Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the team.
11. The role is specialist in nature and additionally is expected to contribute the medium and longer term objectives of the team.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
1. The successful candidate will have a relevant degree, legal or audit qualification or equivalent compliance certification.
2. A proven compliance professional with 10 years+ experience with in-house experience.
3. Has a strong understanding of and experience in operating an effective corporate compliance risk management programme and best compliance practices, understand the external legal and regulatory environment and apply it in a tailored manner to the BBC.
4. Experience conducting second line monitoring and assurance of compliance risk (essential) and be able to prepare Board level, Executive level reports.
5. Highly experienced in supporting teams on a variety of initiatives, in a busy environment. Very strong work ethic. A team player, with a positive self-starter attitude.
