Sacred Heart Catholic Secondary School is looking for an inspirational and highly effective SENCO to join our very successful team of staff within our ofsted rated Good school, where outcomes are very strong and improving. The headteacher is committed to securing the best outcomes for all our children but especially our most vulnerable learners. Our vision is to build on what is already an inclusive school as recognised by the DFE in a recent visit to Sacred Heart. The successful candidate will join our ambitious and experienced Senior Leadership Team and will be an integral part of ensuring that all our SEND children thrive. The newly appointed SENCO will work strategically alongside the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour & Pastoral Care and the Assistant Headteacher for Attendance & Personal Development to ensure that SEND children are supported holistically.
The current SEND structure consists of a full time experienced SEND Administrator and three full time, highly experienced Teaching Assistants as well as a full time Teaching Assistant in PE. In addition to this, our Emotional Health Practitioner sits within the SEND Team. Moreover, the successful candidate will be supported by our full time non-teaching Safeguarding Officer and Attendance Officer.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly motivated SENCO and innovative teacher who has a proven track record of excellent teaching and a deep understanding of how children learn. The role will include minimal teaching.
The successful candidates will:
* Support and promote our distinctive Catholic ethos and values.
* Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to raising standards.
* Inspire, challenge and motivate children within a creative curriculum.
* Have been awarded the National Award for SEN Coordination or be committed to work towards achieving this.
* Have experience of working with children with a range of different needs and abilities, including SEND, Pupil Premium and EAL.
* Have the ability to lead staff and provide professional guidance in developing their knowledge and expertise in working with SEN children to secure high quality teaching and learning.
* Work effectively with the Headteacher, SLT, and Governors to achieve excellence, ensuring that all statutory requirements are met to bring about high standards for all pupils.
* Have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and effective management skills along with highly developed and sensitive interpersonal and communication skills.
* Be actively involved in all aspects of school life, working in partnership with parents, carers and other professionals.
* Be efficient, flexible, well-organised and an excellent team player.
