Job Title: Year 5 Classroom SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Haringey Contract: Contract, Starting November Hours: Monday to Friday, Term Time We are looking for a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to support Year 5 pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a mainstream classroom. You will be working closely with 6-7 pupils, each with different individual needs, helping them to engage with the curriculum and reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs within the Year 5 classroom Assist the class teacher in adapting and differentiating lessons to meet the needs of all learners Support pupils in managing their emotions, behavior, and social interactions in a positive and constructive manner Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, and external professionals to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) Monitor and report on the progress and well-being of the pupils you support Promote inclusion and help create a positive, safe, and stimulating learning environment for all pupils Requirements: Experience working with children with SEN or SEMH needs, ideally within a school setting A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting pupils with diverse needs Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team A good understanding of strategies to support children with SEN and SEMH Experience with or knowledge of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) is desirable but not essential Opogo benefits: Opogo is a social enterprise dedicated to putting more money in your pocket.
