To be part of a multi-skilled team who carry out cleansing duties throughout the borough in line with current Health and Safety legislation. To deliver a well-defined service requiring strenuous physical activity. Ensuring Street Scene services have a high impact within the neighbourhoods and communities of Doncaster whilst making sure the service is customer responsive and able to respond to needs and demands. Core responsibilities and duties will include: To work outside in all weathers following instruction to contribute to the day-to-day delivery of manual and mechanical street cleansing services including the cleaning and maintenance of community areas, public highway, shopping areas, parks and other public spaces in line with service standards and outside in all weathers. Ensuring statutory responsibilities are met and creating a visually pleasing environment for residents and visitors. To carry out street cleaning activities throughout the borough including being responsible for the safe and compliant collection of waste streams including drugs and sharps waste within our defined Service Level Agreements. Minimising the potential risk of expose of hazardous materials to the public and ensuring Doncaster’s legal obligations are adhered to. To work safely using the appropriate available equipment such as mobile technology ensuring accurate documentation is recorded. To report any occurrences/conditions to the line manager that are unsafe including activities, accidents, hazards, vehicles, machinery, and equipment defects. Set a positive and safe working environment by ensuring a high standard of personal behaviour at all times. To provide support in a professional manner and to share good practice, liaising with others including customers and clients to promote good working relationships To collaborate with other teams when a joint response is needed, increasing Street Scene’s resilience and ability to respond to emergency works To undertake as required job training that is specific to the individual service areas gaining additional skills for personal development and to become multi skilled across the wider service. To participate in the department’s callout and standby arrangements for winter maintenance and other emergency situations. Use any appropriate equipment/vehicles designated to the post and ensure that the equipment/vehicles are maintained in line with organisational and manufacturers requirements and ensure the health and safety of any other users Follow instruction and make basic work-related decisions, may be required to organise own workload ensuring that all duties are performed to agreed targets and timescales.
