The Role TopCashback, the UK’s leading cashback site offering the most generous rates to over 15 million members, is looking for a junior press officer to work in its busy press office during their university placement year. This is a fantastic first-hand opportunity to work with experienced media industry professionals, and learn exactly how an in-house brand press office operates all year round. As the first point of contact for members of the media, the junior press officer is essential in helping TopCashback spread the word about the benefits of savvy spending, to save money whilst shopping online. Day to day, you will work with and assist the TopCashback Press Officers and PR Manager as needed, creating proactive media communications which target personal finance and consumer journalists and influencers. You may be asked to brainstorm creative ideas, help craft headline-making media angles or draft a comment for a journalist which highlights TopCashback’s expertise in how to save whilst spending. No day is ever the same. There are also some administrative but essential duties as part of the job, including monitoring brand and competitor media coverage and producing PowerPoint reports, to showcase the value of our work. The successful applicant will be motivated by a career in PR, or communications more generally, and enjoy working as part of a team. An interest in personal finance, deal hunting or saving money is desirable. The role will be based at TopCashback’s London office, and also offers flexible hours and hybrid working. Occasional travel to TopCashback’s HQ in Staffordshire may be required based on business needs. Requirements Desirable: Studying a related university course to maximise knowledge and experience – such as media, journalism, film, communications, politics or finance Eagerness to learn about the PR industry and media communications Accuracy, attention to detail and proof reading skills Clear communicator - written and verbally Personable – a desire to build relationships and a genuine interest in people to manage internal and external relationships, including potential case studies Time management and prioritisation skills – after training you will be required to manage your own workloads, so the ability to be reactive to changing priorities and demands whilst working to deadline is key Creativity and imagination – someone who is alive to new and emerging trends who is not afraid to contribute content ideas from early on Familiarity with email systems e.g. MS Outlook, Gmail is beneficial but training can be given At the moment, we don't utilise AI in our recruitment process, so we warmly encourage you to make your application truly your own and let your personality shine through.
