Job Title: Senior ICP Analyst / Chemist Location: St Helens Salary: £30,000 per annum We are currently recruiting on behalf of a leading company in St Helens for the position of Senior ICP Analyst / Chemist. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional with strong ICP OES / MS experience to join a dynamic team and contribute to the success of the company. Job Description: The Senior ICP Analyst / Chemist will be responsible for processing samples through ICP OES / MS, ensuring turnaround times are met, and maintaining the quality of data. This role requires an individual to take ownership of the instruments, perform necessary maintenance, troubleshoot errors, and ensure the smooth running of the laboratory. Main Duties: Follow in-house techniques as trained. Prepare calibration standards as required. Digest and prepare samples in readiness for analysis. Set up the instrumental run. Process Quality Control samples in accordance with ISO 17025:2017 standard requirements, addressing any non-conforming work. Analyze data and report findings to the relevant manager. Prioritize tasks based on due dates and manage workloads effectively. Maintain attention to detail, consistently following processes despite workload. Perform daily/weekly instrument maintenance and maintain a log. Troubleshoot instrument issues to minimize downtime. Maintain standard stock solution inventory. Assist the Technical Manager in method development. Ensure the safe handling of chemicals and maintain awareness of laboratory hazards. Develop knowledge of metals and minerals qualities. General H&S Responsibilities: Comply with Health & Safety requirements as per training, policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work. Actively contribute to the improvement of safety culture. Report any H&S issues, accidents, or near misses to your line manager immediately. Other General Responsibilities: Carry out any other duties as required by line management, commensurate with the post-holders level of training and competence. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bachelors degree in Science, preferably in Analytical Chemistry. A minimum of 3 years experience working in an ICP laboratory, including equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels, both internally and externally. Excellent attention to detail with a high standard of work.
