We're seeking a dynamic Category Manager to join our team and spearhead best practice procurement strategies for our product categories.
As a Category Manager, you'll be at the forefront of the PPEindustry and consumer trends, crafting long-term growth and sustainability strategies while fostering strong vendor relationships. Your responsibilities will span from negotiating advantageous commercial terms to driving cost savings and process improvements, all while ensuring our competitive edge in the market.
What will I be doing?
A snapshot of you duties include:
* Negotiate most advantageous commercial terms including maximising rebate agreements and early payment discounts to achieve product cost saving targets.
* Ensuring your supplier commercial agreements are up to date and renewed if a deadline has been reached
* Maximise supplier contributions through marketing budgets, transport discounts and other funding streams available.
* Take ownership for the sustainability and growth of the categories Product Profit Margin through collaboration with the Sales and Operations functions.
* Manage relationships with existing suppliers and identify new alternative suppliers
* Liaise with suppliers to achieve supplier conformance to SMI’s purchasing requirements.
* Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure supplier performance and regularly assess and report on supplier performance against these metrics.
* Identify best routes of source, yielding improved EBITDA and savings.
* Competitively source new/special products through supplier relationship
What do I need?
To become a Category Manager with SMI, you will need:
* Industry knowledge of the PPE category
* Purchasing and stock control/supply chain experience ideally gained in a fast moving, customer focused business
* Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate with suppliers
* A proactive approach with regards to cost saving and efficiency opportunities
* Strong IT skills including Excel and preferably experience with Oracle Netsuite
* Good numerical and analytical skills
* Open to, or currently studying towards, CIPS membership
