As a Senior Microbiologist, you will be responsible for conducting microbiological analysis and testing to support our laboratory. You should understand the importance of advocating a no-blame culture and in return we will ensure you have freedom to learn by trial and error. Responsibilities: Perform a variety of microbiological tests and analyses according to established laboratory procedures to meet ISO 17025 requirements (accredited by UKAS). Maintain accurate records of all tests performed, including documenting results and observations. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, ensuring they are calibrated and in proper working condition. Assist in the development and validation of laboratory methods and techniques. Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety regulations and guidelines. Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot issues and solve problems. Stay up-to-date with industry advancements and new techniques in microbiology. Qualifications How to be a successful candidate Experience gained in an microbiological testing laboratory is essential. Familiarity with operating to defined laboratory methods, processes, and documentation. Experience gained in an oilfield testing laboratory is desirable. Experience of working within a UKAS accredited laboratory is desirable. Proficient in laboratory techniques and documentation preparation. Degree level qualification in microbiology or a related science-based subject is essential. Full, current, and valid UK driving licence is essential. Formal audit qualification is desirable.
