Orion Group has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager (Civils) to join our clients business based out of their Inverness office.
As the Senior Project Manager (Civils), you will have the opportunity to travel across multiple sites/projects in the region to ensure successful delivery of schemes of varying sizes, predominately to the Water Industry, across both Treatment Waste and Water schemes, delivering both Design and Build.
What you will be doing:
* Assuming responsibility for the management of project delivery outputs including subordinates, programme, financial position, health safety, environmental performance and progress for all allocated schemes.
* Demonstrating a proven track record of managing staff at varying levels, providing leadership, staff development, retention of key personnel, interviewing, recruitment, and mentoring of more junior staff.
* Interacting in a professional manner with senior representatives of our clients.
* Having a good understanding of NEC contract conditions and an astute commercial awareness.
* Managing multiple concurrent projects across the Framework to ensure the successful delivery of the projects against the project KPI’s and PI’s.
* Ensuring that all projects are delivered in accordance with current Health & Safety regulations, including CDM regulations, & Environmental legislation.
* Ensuring compliance with all company safety, environmental, and quality systems.
* Liaising with client’s staff to ensure KPI’s are met or exceeded within budget constraints.
* Managing the project team ensuring that each member has a clear set of objectives to follow and clear roles and responsibilities.
* Assisting the Operations Manager with the utilisation of the direct labour resources where possible across the projects.
* Assuming responsibility for the financial performance of the portfolio of projects with overall responsibility for Profit/Loss on contracts under your control.
* Producing project performance reports and participating in monthly financial/programme reviews for all schemes with the Commercial Manager, Head of Construction, and Regional Operations Manager.
* Ensuring compliance with all company commercial and financial procedures.
* Completing contract documentation.
* Establishing and agreeing price variations and final accounts.
* Preparing estimates and quotations & providing tender vetting for governance stages of the projects.
* Ensuring a detailed project programme, in conjunction with the project planner, ensuring that it is maintained to drive the project to key deliverable milestones.
* Closely liaising with other departments, such as tendering and design, to ensure resources are correctly allocated and client requirements are fully achieved.
* Taking an active role in developing new opportunities within the Framework and leading in pre-construction tenders to ensure project delivery has input into the tender process.
* Coordinating and liaising with suppliers, specialist sub-contractors, in-house functions, site installations, and construction teams.
* Ensuring that Procurement of plant, materials, and specialist subcontractors is carried out in a timely manner and best value is achieved.
* Ensuring that project resources are made available to attend/undertake factory site and works testing, commissioning, and client training.
* Attending internal and external review and progress meetings.
* Attending site visits/meetings.
* Ensuring all contract documentation such as “As built” drawings, Commissioning Manuals, and Operation and Maintenance Manuals are prepared in line with the client specifications and business/client closeout timescales.
About You:
* An industry applicable ONC/HNC/B.Eng or equivalent.
* H&S qualifications.
* IOSH or CITB 5 Day Site Safety Management (SMSTS).
* CSCS card.
* Demonstrable experience working with NEC suite of contracts in the UK.
* Demonstrable experience of working within the water and/or sewage industries in the UK.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft packages.
* Strong team player but also able to work as an individual.
* Ability to prioritise a varied workload and demonstrate good time management to comply with deadlines.
* Able to work in a busy environment under pressure.
* Excellent communication skills (email/phone/face to face).
* Possessing a “can do” attitude and providing support to other members of the team as required.
* Ability to review options and be comfortable making the required decisions for project success.
