Senior Cloud Platform Engineer - £700 per day - Inside IR35 - Remote - 6 month initial contract. My client, a global nuclear engineering organisation, is looking for an experienced Senior Cloud Platform Engineer with a strong focus on Bicep to play a key role in designing and automating their cloud infrastructure. This is an excellent opportunity to shape and scale cloud environments across Azure and AWS, with a particular emphasis on using Bicep to manage and deploy Azure resources in a clean, modular, and maintainable way. Key Responsibilities: Lead the use of Bicep to define, deploy, and manage infrastructure in Microsoft Azure, promoting infrastructure-as-code best practices across the team. Design, implement, and manage cloud platforms across Azure and AWS, with a focus on scalability, resilience, and security. Build and maintain automation frameworks to streamline deployment pipelines and operational workflows. Manage large-scale compute workloads using Azure Batch, ensuring performance and reliability. Collaborate with development, DevOps, and security teams to deliver robust cloud-native solutions. Apply cost optimisation, compliance, and security best practices in all cloud-related work. Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure and deployment issues in production and development environments. Requirements: Demonstrable experience with Bicep, including writing and maintaining production-grade templates. Solid experience working with both Azure and AWS cloud platforms. Strong understanding of infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles. Hands-on experience with other IaC tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation. Familiarity with Azure Batch and managing high-throughput compute workloads. Skilled in scripting with Python, PowerShell, or Bash. Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or Jenkins. Knowledge of containerisation and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
