JOB DESCRIPTION Post Title: Trunk Road Maintenance Unit Coordinator Department / Service: ERF/ Open Spaces Hours: 37 Level: Grade G07 Location: Mochdre Job Evaluation Number: SL2030 Responsible to: Trunk Road Maintenance Unit Manager Responsible For: (Staff) 6 Direct Job Purpose: To Coordinate countywide trunk road operations and provide first line management of operational maintenance teams. Duties and Responsibilities - Job Specific 1. Manage, develop and motivate Trunk Road operational staff including sickness absence management and PDRs. 2. Manage the workforce to ensure efficiency, high levels of productivity and cost effectiveness. 3. Develop a planned programme of scheduled works. 4. Support and advise team leaders to ensure adequate resources are allocated for planned works. 5. Liaise with NMWTRA and Area Maintenance Officers to ensure allocation of staff and resources to undertake reactive work. 6. Ensure all aspects of Health and Safety are monitored and risk assessments and safe working practices are in place and communicated to staff ensure that all staff are acquainted with and perform tasks in accordance with the defined safe methods of working. 7. Monitor accidents and incidents and ensure timely and appropriate remedial action is taken. 8. Investigate complaints and enquiries related to Trunk Road maintenance. 9. Supervise and monitor temporary traffic management for works on the highway. 10. Maintain comprehensive service records, performance indicators and supporting data. 11. Manage the apprenticeship scheme in the section. 12. Be a source of relevant expertise to the group. 13. Deliver continuous improvement by assisting in the development of strategy, service delivery and operational plans. 14. Communicate tool box talks/service objectives/team briefs clearly to staff ensuring high levels of motivation. 15. Responsible for dedicated Trunk Road vehicles, ensuring efficiency of use, timely maintenance and replacement. 16. Undertake procurement of small/medium scale contracts adhering to Departmental and Corporate requirements. 17. Monitor training to ensure compliance with statutory, sectional and departmental requirements. 18. Participate in the out of hours rota. 19. Participate in project teams as required. 20. Participate in corporate initiatives. 21. Deputise for Trunk Road Manager when required. 22. The role involves significant amounts of night work which may include weekends. 23. To receive, interpret, deliver and reconcile works orders in line with agreed timescales as per the partnership agreement. Including the submission of completed claims to NMWTRA. HNC/HND in an engineering discipline AF/V ? A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working in a Highways environment (to include exposure to trunk road operations). AF/I ? Registered to Highway Sector Scheme level12a/b and possess working knowledge of Sector Scheme 12c & 12d AF/I ?
