Within this role, it is important to show skills in leadership, communication, risk assessment, and knowledge of the Mental Health Act. It is also essential that the individual works in a caring and empathic way towards others and is approachable to both patients and staff.
Role
Yare Ward is looking for an enthusiastic and caring new staff member who, as a charge nurse, would have an active role in leadership and role modeling excellent care to others. This can include:
1. Having excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act.
2. Maintaining excellent record-keeping skills, including care documentation and audits.
3. Communicating effectively within the multi-disciplinary team and with other professionals such as social care.
4. Leading a care team, ensuring patient needs are advocated for and that staff feel supported in their roles.
5. Keeping up to date with the most recent NICE guidelines and local procedures, and sharing any changes with the team.
6. Being the lead in a certain area for the ward (e.g., Infection Control, Safeguarding).
7. Ensuring that adequate supervision is provided to those allocated to you.
8. Participating in Quality Improvement projects where relevant.
9. Being trained in, or able to be trained in, the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression.
