Must have a joinery manufacturing background and 3+ years experience in a similar role.
Tasks
1. Introduce some methods of lean manufacturing.
2. Engage with customers to explore core products that can be manufactured faster.
3. Discuss the mix of products coming through the factory with PM and estimator to ensure overhead recovery and a stream of profitable products.
4. Continuous improvement - identify what else could be done better, faster, cheaper.
5. Manage raw material goods-in check sheet - designated to production manager to complete but owned by GM.
6. Photograph and check manufactured products goods-in - designated to production manager to complete but owned by GM.
7. Check timesheets against manufacturing hours to track and monitor against tendered position and report issues to Production/PM.
8. Calmly find solutions to recurring problems.
9. Receive purchase orders, file them, negotiate terms when required, and update M&D on receipt.
10. Host production meetings to ensure the weekly/monthly plan is on track.
11. Report issues to all required parties early and judge how to remedy while monitoring cost implications.
12. Review tender drawings with PM, identify additional items not requested, and upsell further products.
13. Discuss draughtsman's workload with PM.
14. Assess tenders and variations with PM and external clients to update estimators' workload order.
15. Book transportation with PM or ops.
16. Review project performance acutely and report to MD.
17. Liaise with accounts and PM on valuations & invoicing.
Project Tasks
1. Liaise with clients on project status, negotiate tender through to winning the project.
2. Engage with GM during tender negotiations and understand the products.
3. Discuss project with draughtsman & production manager to define the order of drawings required.
4. Check drawings, make amendments, ensuring the highest standards at all times.
5. Perform site measuring and surveying where required.
6. Attend pre-let meetings.
7. Submit drawings to clients including any online uploading where required; doc controller can assist and train.
8. Break down the drawings into a full ordering list of materials and components.
9. Order the materials and components.
10. Chase submitted drawings through to status A, making amendments with draughtsman where required.
11. Host a tender launch meeting with GM and production manager to discuss timings and potential issues; early engagement is key.
12. Assess variations and tenders with ops and estimators to ensure swift compliant returns.
13. Book transportation with PM or GM.
14. Liaise with accounts and GM on valuations & invoicing.
