Area Sales Manager:
Selling industrial consumables to distributors - working with client representatives to increase sales into end users within wood, metal, automotive, and mechanical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Define and implement an effective strategy for generating sales within the defined territory.
2. New business generation - Existing & New Accounts.
3. Achieve the territory sales and profitability targets.
4. Fully understand and implement the Sales Strategy, including brand placement and market pricing.
5. Develop strong relationships with the customer base, encouraging pro-active trading to address customers' needs.
6. Liaise with the Marketing Department and GM to research opportunities for new business.
7. Spend at least 90% of time in the field visiting customers, focusing on developing new high potential business.
8. Prepare regular one-to-one field visits with the GM to assess territory opportunities and discuss development.
9. Work closely with the Internal sales team to maximize business.
10. Manage territory efficiently through effective journey planning and scheduling customer visits via the CRM platform (Skynamo).
11. Follow up all sales leads promptly and efficiently.
12. Support Distributor sales efforts by developing relationships with key decision makers.
13. Review competitor activities; identify potential threats and opportunities.
14. Prepare a target plan to identify and exploit potentials to meet objectives.
15. Ensure all reports/correspondence are completed on time.
16. Advise the GM of any changes, issues, and competitor activity affecting sales and margins.
17. Report perceived weaknesses in personal, product, or operational knowledge for training arrangement.
The Candidate:
Proven experience managing business at a territory sales management level. Numerate, with strong presentation skills. An effective communicator, with the ability to build relationships at all levels. Computer literate with a good understanding of Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
