Key Responsibilities:
* Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Perform comprehensive maintenance and repair tasks on fleet vehicles, including engines, transmissions, brakes, axles, clutches, suspensions, and more.
* Diagnostic Assessments: Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical problems and implement effective solutions.
* Preventive Maintenance: Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize vehicle downtime and extend the lifespan of fleet assets.
* Emergency Repairs: Respond promptly to emergency repair requests, ensuring that vehicles are returned to service as quickly as possible.
* Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed, including parts used and time spent on each task.
* Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment and the safe operation of all fleet vehicles.
* Collaboration: Work closely with other mechanics, drivers, and fleet managers to coordinate maintenance schedules and address vehicle issues promptly.
Qualifications & Requirements:
* Experience: Proven experience as a fleet mechanic or similar role, with expertise in servicing commercial trucks and trailers.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment; strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
* Physical Ability: Capability to lift heavy parts and equipment, stand for extended periods, and perform physically demanding tasks.
* Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., ASE) are but not mandatory.
* Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues and implement effective solutions.
* Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to document work performed and communicate effectively with team members.
