An exciting opportunity has arisen for an aspirant band 6 sister/charge nurse to support the senior team on Ward 6B - General Medicine. This role requires flexibility and a willingness to embrace new ways of working dependent on service needs.
Job Responsibilities
* Provide clinical and managerial leadership for nursing and support staff.
* Deputise for the Departmental Manager in their absence.
* Lead on clinical practice and departmental issues.
* Work clinically in all areas of the department.
* Conduct assurance checks and audits.
* Work clinically caring for a cohort of patients.
* Support the Band 7 team with appraisals and performance management.
* Provide leadership on the ward.
* Monitor EST and conduct device training.
* Manage Datix/complaints and student experience.
Person Specification
Qualifications/Training
* Registered Nurse Qualification.
* Evidence of post-basic education to meet the requirements of the service and nurse registration.
* Teaching/Mentoring Certificate/skills.
* Other Post Basic Qualification.
Knowledge, Experience & Expertise
* Significant experience as a Band 5 registered nurse within a hospital setting.
* A commitment to providing exceptional levels of patient care in a professional and compassionate manner.
* Awareness of the Must-Dos.
* Leadership and clinical supervision skills.
* Recent experience working within Acute Medicine.
* Recent experience in undertaking staff appraisals.
* Knowledge of Acute Medicine.
* Involvement in Quality Improvement initiatives.
Communication and Relationships
* Demonstrates professional leadership skills.
* Ability to delegate, organise and prioritise care delivery.
