Royal Surrey Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint an ST3+ level Trust Doctor in Respiratory Medicine to cover a training gap. The posts will be a combination of service delivery and educational input within the specialty.
The post-holder will have a named supervisor, and will be supported in undertaking scheduled educational opportunities within the Trust and clinical specialties.
Successful applicants will support specialty teams in Respiratory in the management of their in-patient & out-patient workload, and will participate in out-of-hours cover on the registrar rota. The specific rotation preferences will be discussed with candidates at interview.
Main duties of the job
From a clinical perspective these posts will participate in the senior trainee rota.
The main duties of the post will include:
* Provision of care with responsibility for the management of patients with acute and chronic conditions including complex cases.
* Referral of patients to other specialties as appropriate
* Involvement in specialty and cross-specialty multi-disciplinary teams and meetings
* Teaching and supervision of junior medical staff and other clinicians as appropriate
* Active involvement in audit and clinical governance including service improvement activities
* Improve competencies in data analysis
* Provide opportunities for research, audit and service improvement

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
The division of Access and Medicine has been rated as Outstanding in the recent CQC visit in 2020. The Medicine Division at the Royal Surrey is organised into a number of individual Strategic Business Units, which include inpatient, outpatient and day case services. Inpatient medicine is organised in a specialty ward-based structure, with triage from the emergency assessment unit to ward-based specialty care based upon clinical need.
The Royal Surrey is a District General Hospital, with regional specialty referrals from across the South Coast, and incorporates the St Luke’s Cancer Centre, as well as one of the largest ICUs in the region. Medical specialties include Acute Medicine, Respiratory Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Rheumatology, Diabetes, Endocrinology, Neurology, Stroke and Frailty (Ageing and Health). We also provide care for Acute Elderly Admissions and step-down care for patients in a less acute phase of their admission at Milford Hospital.

Qualifications
* Full GMC Registration
* MBBS or equivalent
* ATLS, ALS, APLS or PALS certification
* Medicine at core trainee (IMT2 level or equivalent)
* Higher qualification e.g. MFARM, FRCS, MRCP, MRCPG, MRCS, FRCA or equivalent
Knowledge and Experience
* Previous experience of General Medicine at SHO level
* Evidence of achievement of ST1/2 competencies; maintaining good medical practice; good relationships and communication; professional behaviour and probity; delivery of good acute clinical care
* Experience in Respiratory Medicine at SHO or equivalent
