As an Associate Project Manager joining our Cambridge or Norwich office, you will need proven experience gained within a consultancy or client organisation. You will need a strong focus on the data centre sector. Your experience within the sector could include hyperscale, colocation, and enterprise-level data centre construction and infrastructure development projects and programmes.
The role will cover the entire project lifecycle for medium to large-scale data centre projects, from initial inception and business case development, through design and procurement processes, site delivery, commissioning, and handover phases, including defects management.
Working as part of an integrated team you will have the ability to undertake a lead role with minimal support whilst also providing line management support as part of your duties.
Here's what you'll do:
* Lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery
* Undertake Line Management and or supervisory responsibilities, where you will support, motivate and mentor members of your team
* Lead internal AECOM Project Team Meetings for the purposes of coordinating the AECOM Project Team in addition to the wider AECOM Project Management Team
* Lead the management of the delivery of project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards
* Positively engage with the construction and design team and work collaboratively to mitigate risks, avoid claims and disputes
* Co-ordinate, review and ensure that there has been a sign off of all management information produced by project management teams prior to issue
* Lead the development of strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team
* Be the main interface with AECOM clients (New and Existing)
* Lead the management of design on large complex projects
* Lead the management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations on large complex projects
* Lead the formulation and management of construction contracts on large complex projects
* Progress business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities
* To support 'winning' clients, being responsible for the quality of work outputs, effective communication and demonstration of professional behaviours
* Provide leadership within project management business and provide leadership and mentoring to the team
* Manage project finances, resourcing, audits, and reviews, to a portfolio of projects being led within the cost centre
* Formulate fee proposals
* Support Project Managers through their Professional Chartership
* Active involvement in recruitment and retention activities
* Ensure you complete all relevant training

Qualifications

Here's what we're looking for:
* Professional Qualification - ideally Project Management/Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying Degree
* Chartered Status with the RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or other equivalent institution
* Proven experience gained in the Life Science, Tertiary Education or Defence construction sectors
* Knowledge and experience of the Life Science and Tertiary Education sector (including current issues and business drivers) and local construction market
* Excellent understanding of construction contracts
* Excellent understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
