Variable Hours
This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. We’ll provide an approximate number of hours you may be asked to work, however there is no obligation for work to be offered, and there’s no obligation for you to accept the work offered.
The opportunity
As our Additional Learning Support Worker, you’ll provide personalised support to our students with additional learning needs, including those with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Your role is all about creating a positive, inclusive environment where our learners can overcome barriers, develop independence, and achieve their goals. Whether you’re working one-to-one, in small groups, or within a classroom setting, you’ll help ensure that every student feels supported and valued throughout their educational journey.
You’ll assist our students with both academic and personal development, tailoring your support to meet their individual needs. By working closely with teaching staff, you’ll help adapt learning materials and deliver activities that suit a variety of abilities, enabling our students to fully engage in their studies. In addition, you may provide personal care support where required, whilst always ensuring dignity and respect are maintained.
Your role will also involve offering emotional and pastoral support to help our students build resilience and confidence. You’ll use your communication skills to monitor progress, provide feedback, and contribute to student reviews, including the development of EHCPs. By fostering a fully inclusive learning environment, you’ll empower our students to overcome challenges and reach their potential.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to make a real difference in our students' lives while enjoying the flexibility of a variable hour’s contract. Not only will you gain the rewarding experience of seeing our students overcome barriers and grow in confidence, you'll also have the chance to work in a dynamic and supportive environment.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, patient, and genuinely committed to supporting students with additional learning needs. You’ll need to be approachable, understanding, and ready to adapt to the unique needs of each learner, providing the encouragement and guidance they need to succeed.
You’ll bring strong interpersonal skills, allowing you to build positive relationships with our students, staff, and parents. Your ability to communicate effectively will help you offer both emotional and academic support, ensuring our students feel confident and included. A proactive attitude and the flexibility to respond to different situations will also be essential, as no two days in this role are the same.
While experience working with individuals with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable, it’s your attitude and dedication that matter most. You’ll be someone who thrives on making a difference and is committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment.
Organisational skills and attention to detail will help you keep accurate records and contribute to the development of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). A willingness to work as part of a team, as well as independently, will be crucial to ensuring the best outcomes for students.
