We are looking to appoint health care assistants who are enthusiastic, motivated with a passion for caring to join our dedicated Team in Community Urgent Care.
This role includes the following duties:
1. To call in and prepare patients for assessment by clinical staff.
2. To undertake preparations for, and deliver specific treatments and therapies as directed.
3. Application of back slab, removal of Plaster of Paris.
4. Splinting.
5. Physical observations.
6. Providing crutches.
7. To record observations for blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, respiratory rate, and oxygen saturation.
8. To perform basic life support and assist clinicians during advanced life support techniques.
9. To obtain specimens including urine, sputum, blood, and stools and carry out near patient testing as directed.
10. To undertake irrigation of eyes as directed by the clinician.
11. To undertake venepuncture.
12. To undertake ECG recording and attach patient to cardiac monitor.
13. To administer oral medication as directed by clinician, including preparation and administration of nebulisers.
14. To support clinicians during complex clinical procedures.
15. To undertake peak flow recordings and document appropriately.
16. To prepare and run outpatient orthopaedic fracture clinics for Consultant and/or Registrars, including removing and replacing back slab and full cast plasters.
17. To include reception duties as required.
Main duties of the job
Experience of working in a care setting would be advantageous, but all necessary skills training, professional updates, and mandatory training as appropriate to the post will be provided. There will be an expectation of a flexible approach to shift patterns with a commitment to participate in the on-call service after appropriate training.
