In partnership with a specialist school, we are seeking a Teaching Assistant to join the team as soon as possible.
This is a temporary position initially, but an excellent 'foot-in-the-door' opportunity, where you could gain a permanent role within the school further down the line.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday, from 8.30am until 3.30pm term-time only.
About the School:
* The school caters for students with additional needs, which include: Sensory and Physical Impairment, Cognition and Learning Needs such as SLD, MLD, SpLD, GDD, Communication and Interaction Issues, including ASC, ADHD and SEMH.
* Purpose-built for children and young people from 4-18 years.
* Smaller class sizes, with approx 8-10 students as a maximum.
* Increased staffing and support, with a Class Teacher and at least 2 support staff per class.
Key Responsibilities as a Teaching Assistant:
* Providing individual and group support to students with complex needs i.e., Autism, Down's Syndrome, ADHD.
* Assisting the class teacher in planning and delivering lessons, adapting materials and resources as necessary to meet the needs of individual students.
* Monitoring and recording student progress, feeding back to the class teacher and contributing to Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
* Supporting students in accessing sensory activities and therapies.
* Liaising with parents and carers as required.
Qualifications and Experience (Desirable, but not Essential):
* Experience of working with children with additional needs in a school or educational setting.
* Knowledge and understanding of SEND.
* A positive and caring attitude, with the ability to provide support and care to students.
* Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
