We are working with an NHS organisation who are seeking to appoint an Interim Senior Financial Accountant/Financial Controller for an immediate start.\n \nThe role will be for 3 months with an option for extension and will be at interim day rates under the NHS Agency Cap at Band 8b.\n\nThis is a key role for the organisation, the holder of this post will have responsibility for supporting the provision of a professional financial accounting and assurance service. They will be an integral part of a team that engages fully with senior leaders and stakeholders to support the delivery of a comprehensive financial accounting and technical accounting function.\n\nKey responsibilities:\n\nSupport the planning and managing the closure of year end statutory accounts, ensuring compliance with professional accounting standards;\nWrite and provide papers and present information to the Audit Committee on key annual account considerations, particularly around income and expenditure, creditors and debtors, analytical review, assets and liabilities, leases and provisions, and accounting policies;\nEnsure financial controls are in place across all financial accounting systems and processes. Manage financial accounting systems to meet audit requirements.
Providing support and leadership to the development and maintenance of financial governance arrangements;\nDevelop and manage robust financial accounting systems and processes to support the reporting of the organisation;\nDevelop policies and procedures, including interpretation and implementation, in line with statutory and NHS guidelines;\nWork closely with the National Audit Office on all accounting issues relating to the organisation;\nLine management responsibilities for the financial accountants, ensuring that work priorities are managed to complete deadlines;\nEnsure that complex technical advice to stakeholders on issues of financial control, IR35, VAT Accounting and International Financial Reporting Standards, employment tax legislation is given;\nEnsure that the team provides monthly monitoring and other returns for submission to the relevant statutory regulators and systems accurately and on time by your review, ensuring that all financial regulations are correctly followed in the preparation of these returns.\nThe ideal candidate will have:\n\nQualified CCAB Professional Accountancy Qualification;\nRelevant NHS or public sector experience;\nExtensive experience of working within a senior management role in a finance environment;\nExtensive experience of developing and assuring financial controls, processes and procedures;\nExperience of leading and managing staff in a senior role;\nProduction of board level reports;\nSignificant experience of communicating and engaging effectively with external agencies/stakeholders;\nExperience of technical and VAT accounting rules and a sound understanding of accounting standards and their application in the NHS.\nIf you are interested in the role, please email Toni Coates with a copy of your updated CV to (url removed) along with your availability and rate understanding in line with the above.\n\nIf you do not receive a response within 72 hours (3 working days) of receipt, please assume that on this particular occasion, your application did not meet the client’s requirements for this specific role
