For many fans of Formula One, the sport exists between lights and chequered flag on a Sunday afternoon. It begins and ends with the exploits of the drivers on the track. But this is merely the tip of the spear. The reality of modern F1 is that of a complex and intertwined operation, every part of which needs to perform near its limit if success is to be achieved. From the pit crew searching for the ultimate repeatable pit stop, to the inspiration of the designers, the application of engineers and the herculean efforts of an army of fabricators and machinists. Much of our success is thanks to the diversity of thought and spectrum of skill sets held within the team, our ability to recognise unique contributions from individual team members is just a part of why we love what we do.
Job Description
Red Bull Racing & Technology are seeking an experienced CAM Programmer to create CAM programs along with all supporting fixturing, tooling, and documentation to manufacture complex components and assemblies. This role involves developing related processes and technologies by working with the CAM Programming Manager to ensure high machine utilisation and low external spend, while producing “Right First-Time” programs to the agreed delivery date.
Your responsibilities:
* Produce CAM programs and prioritise daily workloads to ensure all machines can run effectively and maximise productivity within the departments, liaising with the CAM Programming Manager on relevant resource planning.
* Provide feedback via Production Engineering on any manufacturing issues and improvement suggestions to reduce cost or lead-time.
* Be responsible for the quality of programs produced, ensuring all appropriate processes are carried out, and that any deviations from specification are identified and, if possible, corrected prior to posting to the machine, with relevant communication and reports of any potential delays supplied to the CAM Programming Manager.
* Maintain a good communication channel with all shift personnel, the Nightshift Chargehand, Manufacturing Engineering, and other shift leaders to enable work to be transferred from shift to shift effectively.
* Ensure that company policies and procedures are administered consistently, seeking advice where appropriate, e.g., time and attendance system holiday bookings, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance matters.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience of programming using NX for a variety of multi-axis machining centres with Heidenhain or Siemens NC Code and Controls.
* Demonstrable experience of 5 Axis programming in a metallic, composite, or pattern material background.
* Proven experience in Veri-cut simulation software.
* Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings.
* Tight tolerance working skills.
* Conscientious and methodical in approach.
* Ability to work in a high-pressure, team environment and to be self-motivated to meet tight deadlines.
* Ability to work flexibly when additional shifts are required.
* Actively support the Apprentice training programme.
Not only is this a fantastic CAM Programmer position, but it is also a fantastic team to work with here at Red Bull Technology. A good salary is just the start; there are many other benefits too, such as our bonus scheme, private healthcare cover, life assurance scheme, workplace nursery scheme, company-contributed pension scheme, on-site gym & fitness classes, free daily food allowance, and a cycle-to-work scheme. Above all, the job satisfaction doesn’t get any better than the feeling of making a real contribution to our championship-winning grand prix cars.
