Role Overview:
Working within the council’s Capital & Treasury Finance Team, the Accountancy Assistant will be responsible for;
* Accurate and timely allocation of all unallocated cash to support the whole business.
* Assist internal employees and customers with account enquiries and provide suppliers with copy remittances.
* Upload bank statements and payment breakdowns, keeping information reconciled.
* Clearing of suspense items
* Daily processing supplier/resident BACS payments
* To assist Accountant and Senior Accountant in the daily Treasury Management Function and other Capital Team tasks
Key Responsibilities:
* Accurately apply customer payments to their respective accounts and invoices.
* Process incoming bank receipts efficiently and in accordance with company procedures
* Use of various IT systems including the Councils finance system and other relating systems as well as Banking systems
* Working with high volumes of data in a safe and secure manner.
* Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to cash allocation
Key Requirements:
To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to identify and allocate income correctly and deal with both internal and external customers and suppliers
* Takes initiative to investigate discrepancies and find solutions.
* Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills will be needed to manage daily, weekly and monthly routine tasks
* Basic knowledge of accounting/AAT/or willingness to learn
