About the Role
Playing a significant role in ensuring the safety and security of your Centre, as well as in the rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders, you will:
* Handle a Case Management portfolio of offenders assigned to you, providing first-line support in addressing their offending behaviour
* Support and collaborate with the Centre's multidisciplinary team including Clinicians, Health and Mental Health staff, and Alliance Partners
* Conduct daily head counts and search for contraband
* Escort offenders to appointments, including hospital visits and court appearances
* Manage the visitors area of the prison and oversee offenders' visitation sessions
* Conduct perimeter searches and control access of people in and out of the facility
Most shifts are 12 hours, offering an excellent work-life balance. The facility operates 24/7, so you will work a mix of day, night, public holiday, and weekend shifts once trained.

Mandatory Requirements
To gain employment, you must:
* Be an Australian or New Zealand Citizen, or a Permanent Resident of Australia
* Hold a valid, unrestricted Driver's Licence for your State
* Be able to obtain a satisfactory national security clearance
About the Training
GEO, as a Registered Training Provider (number 3570), offers nationally accredited training programs.
All new Correctional Officers complete a full-time, paid 8-week training course and work toward a Certificate III in Correctional Practice (CSC30122).
The 8-week pre-service course starts on Monday, 8 September 2025, and graduates on Friday, 31 October 2025. Successful applicants will be notified at least 4 weeks prior. Attendance for the entire course is required, with some weekend work due to training nature.
Remuneration
The starting trainee rate is $33.86 per hour during training. Upon course completion, the casual rate is $47.03 per hour. Full-time employment offers a base salary of approximately $82,174, with potential earnings increase through additional shifts or overtime, aligned with the Enterprise Agreement.
